Holiday weekend heat

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Temperatures near or above 100 are expected in Southeast Texas during the holiday weekend and the heat index will make it feel like 105-110 in most of the area.

KFDM Meteorologist Greg Bostwick says there's only about a 10 percent chance of thunderstorms, primarily in the evening.

The high Friday should be near 102 in the Lakes area and the upper 90's in the Triangle.

Winds will be light.

The high Thursday was 104 in Kirbyville.

KJAS radio in Jasper reports a powerful thunderstorm with winds of about 45 miles an hour knocked out electricity Thursday in parts of Jasper.

Rain chances increase to 40-50 percent Monday and Tuesday as high edges back a bit to the west.

The tropics are quiet.

Stay with KFDM for the latest on the holiday weekend forecast.
