Friends and family gather to remember Rocky Herring
Friends, family, and loved ones are gathered as we speak at a visitation to remember the life of a pilot from Orange County.
51-year-old Rocky Herring died Sunday, after spending six weeks in an Arizona hospital.
On November 13th, Herring was flying a plane near Sedona, when the engine lost power.
His two uncles died on impact.
Herring suffered severe burns to his upper body.
Many family and friends kept up with herring's progress through the Caring Bridge website, where his wife posted updates frequently about his progress.
Herring died unexpectedly a week ago after doctors removed a breathing tube.
Herrings family believes a blood clot may have killed him.
One of Herring's best friends and co-founder of "Wings of Promise" said it was Herring's giving nature that led him to start the program, which was a non-profit air transport service in Orange.
It allowed the two men to help others.
Danny Bentley says Herring never met a stranger and he would give anyone the shirt of his back.
