Sun. Sept. 14, 2008
Sam's Club in Beaumont opened in the morning. Lines were already forming to get food and gas. A few people began cutting in line and a couple fights broke out. Beaumont Police were called for crowd control.
Mon. Sept. 15, 2008
The City of Port Arthur survived Ike, for the most part. There are parts that receive more wind and water damage than others. We took a tour of a Port Arthur family's home. The hurricane put a hole in the roof and peeled the top of the roofing off the house.
Tues. Sept. 16, 2008
Today we followed crews that helped the Humane Society rescue pets. Many pets were left behind and families were not able to check on them. One of the most touching rescues was of a pit bull dog family.

Our camera crew spent most of the afternoon riding on the back of a dump truck. We went out to West Jefferson County near Winnie to see the flooding. Ranchers there say several feet of water flooded their pastures. Cows were trapped in the high water. Crews tried to rescue them before they turned to drinking salt water.

Entergy crews are working trying to restore power. Today we video taped the process of setting poles. We got an up close view of how it happens. The Entergy crews walked us through the process. They hope to restore power to the Southeast Texas area as quickly as possible.
