Pilot makes emergency landing in front yard of home

A pilot was forced to make an emergency landing in the front yard of a Chambers County home when his engine stalled.

Investigators say the plane came down on Saddlewood Drive at McCollum Park Road in Beach City, south of Baytown.

It happened at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The pilot was the only person on board.

He suffered a back injury and was taken by medical helicopter to a hospital.

The plane clipped a mailbox when the pilot tried to avoid going into a drainage ditch.

The plane is new and authorities say it was only the second time the pilot had flown it.

No one in the home was hurt and the home wasn't damaged.
