Couple charged with leaving children home alone
PINEVILLE, La. (AP) - Police say a couple faces charges after they reportedly left their three children home alone.
Arrested were 28-year-old Tiffany Jeannette Hayes and 31-year-old William Joseph McCain, both of Pineville, who were booked with child desertion. Hayes also faces a charge with assault.
According to the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office, someone alerted deputies that the children were home alone. When deputies arrived at the home around 10:30 p.m. Saturday they discovered three children -- all under 10 -- home alone.
The two came home about 10 minutes later and told deputies that they'd just gone to the store.
Deputies say the children were turned over to a relative.
