A 20 year old from Vidor has become the first female soldier from the Golden Triangle to be killed in Iraq.

Spc. Kamisha Block was a victim of friendly fire, according to her aunt, Joyce Stuckey.

Block was a military police officer. Stuckey tells KFDM News Kamisha was killed Thursday at her base in Iraq. Stuckey doesn't know the circumstances of the friendly fire death.

Block graduated from AIM Center High School in Vidor in 2005 and joined the Army.

According to her aunt, Block was a loving person and a people person who had a lot of friends.

Recently, Block wrote a letter to her parents. It read in part, "I gave up my freedom to fight for freedom."

According to Stucky, her niece wanted to serve our country and was proud to do so.

Kamisha is survived by her parents, a sister, her aunt and uncle, and other relatives.

Her body was flown to Delaware. Kamisha's aunt says it's not known yet when the military will fly Kamisha's body to Southeast Texas.

Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor is handling the arrangements.

Kamisha Block turned 20 years old on August 4.
