Assistant LU Professor Files Lawsuit Alleging Gender Discrimination

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

KFDM News has learned an assistant professor at Lamar University has filed a lawsuit claiming he was denied tenure because he is a man.

Dr. Michael Jordan teaches in the Criminal Justice Department. KFDM News has obtained a copy of his lawsuit, in which Dr. Jordan says supervisors told him he was doing a "great job" at a "high performance level."

Jordan says he was denied tenure and alleges a female professor received tenure based on what he calls a “less stringent standard.”

Dr. Jordan also alleges he was treated differently from his female counterparts.

He's seeking tenure, back pay and damages.

A spokesman for Lamar University told us he can't comment on pending litigation.
