Trial date set for couple charged with toddler's murder
A judge has set a May 11 trial date for a couple charged with capital murder in the death of a toddler.
Leo Desormeaux IV is the father of Triston Dobbins. Crystal Desormeaux is the stepmother.
Prosecutors say the 21 month old boy died in December of 2007 after he was choked, shaken, and his head was struck with or against an object at the couple's home in Evadale.
The Jasper County District Attorney alleges after the child was dead, he was placed in a bed and no one called 911 until the next day.
The district attorney wants to try the defendants at the same time. The judge hasn't ruled yet on that request.
