Four families are displaced after fire broke out at a Kirbyville apartment complex on Friday afternoon. The Kirbyville, Tri-Community and Jasper Fire Departments had about two dozen men at the scene and worked for over an hour trying to reach the fire which was in the attic of the two story building.
The blaze broke out shortly after 1:00 at the Timber Ridge Apartments at 1410 South Elizabeth Street near Kirbyville High School.
A man at the scene, who did not want to give his identity, said the blaze started as a grease fire in the kitchen of apartment 404, which belongs to Shinona Woods.
Fire damage was heavy in that apartment, while the other three units had extensive water and smoke damage.
No injuries resulted from the incident.
