Teen arrested for collision that killed young father

The Lumberton Police Department has arrested a teenager charged with driving drunk and killing a young father who was heading home from work on Highway 96 in Lumberton, according to information KFDM News has obtained from Lumberton Police Chief Danny Sullins.

Bo Walter Pillsbury, 19, of Vidor, is charged with Intoxication Manslaughter in a collision on Saturday, November 28 that killed Michael Chapman, 25. He is also charged with Intoxication Assault for injuries to the driver of the vehicle in which Chapman was a passenger.

Chief Sullins says Lumberton Police arrested Pillsbury on Wednesday night and he was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Butch Cummings. The judge set bond at $50,000 on the Intoxication Manslaughter charge and $25,000 on the Intoxication Assault charge. He was booked into the Hardin County Jail and released after posting bond.

Chapman had gotten off work at Taco Bell in Lumberton where he was a team trainer. A co-worker was driving him home at about 5 a.m. Saturday when investigators say Pillsbury's truck struck the car in the 800 block of Highway 96, near the H.E.B. store.

Chapman died and the co-worker was injured. She remains hospitalized.

Michael's wife, Brandi Greer, says an account has been set up at Community Bank to help with the living expenses for the couple's four month old daughter, Zoe Jane Chapman.

The account number is 51005368. You can contribute at any location.

A memorial service for Chapman is scheduled for Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Broussard's in Silsbee.
