Beaumont teen dies in motorcycle accident

The Department of Public Safety tells KFDM a midnight accident on I-10 resulted in the death of a 19-year-old Beaumont man.

Troopers say the 19-year-old was speeding on the motorcycle, in the eastbound lanes, when he hit a truck near the Hamshire Road exit.

The teen was ejected from the bike, and was not wearing a helmet.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and is identified as Frank Robert Haas III.

What is the deal with these kids and those crotch rockets? I see these kids up and down Dowlen, Folsom, Phealan, and Major Dr. speeding and popping wheelies. Another life wasted for a momentary thrill. I feel sorry the families who will never see that young man again. Will kids ever learn?

No, and they are just that kids...No blame-- a young man having the time of his life, God just called him home earlier than anyone expected. I hope that God will hold his family and friends close during this time. Bless them all..

No doubt, there's n blame at that age. God knows I should be dead from all I did back in those days. I was one of the luckier ones or God still has something for me to do...Oh, yeah - raise my kids better than I was!

I was actually about 20-30 cars back from that accident and was stuck in the traffic for about an hr. The whole time never complaining on what was taking so long. Only looking up at the stars praying that no one was killed. My heart and prayers go out to the family who lost someone they loved so early. May god be with you....

What was going on last night, as stated before i was stuck not moving for a complete hr due to the accident. Then creeping along after they cleaned up the accident for about 2 miles maybe i look over to my left (headed to bmt) to see an suv type vehicle that looked like it had been hit from the back only to have the front end smashed into the side of an 18 wheeler on the other side of the interstate. We start to pick up speed again when all of the sudden about 5 cars in front of me stop because there is a vehicle (i assume) was covered in flames....then i sat there for another complete hr.... so many accidents in such a short distance.

blaming the motorcycle for the boy dieing is like blaming the spoon for Rosie O being fat. Sorry for the families loss, but quit blaming inanimate objects for things that happen.

Prayers for the young man, his family and friends.

Why outlaw "crotch rockets"? Just like firearms, how, when and where they are used makes all the difference. There is "blame" because the occupants of the struck vehicle, the witnesses and 1st responders were all affected by the accident.
