Southeast Texas Teen Charged With Murder

19-year-old Devan Meeks was charged with murder in a Winnie homicide on Saturday.

Meek's is accused of killing 43-year-old David Davis in Winnie last weekend. Meeks was being held in the Jefferson County Jail on unrelated charges, including unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and possession of dangerous drugs.

Now he's being held on murder charges.

No bond has been set.

Southeast Texas investigators are in Oklahoma questioning a 19 year old suspect about a murder in Winnie. Devan Meeks is behind bars in Muskogee, Oklahoma .. charged David Davis. 

Davis' body was found in his home in Winnie Sunday. He'd been stabbed and also suffered what the sheriff calls blunt force trauma. The sheriff says someone set fire to the living room furniture to cover up the killing.

When investigators got to the home 16 year old Melina Perry and Meeks were gone. Sheriff Larive says investigators might be in Oklahoma for several days. they hope to return with Meeks and Perry.

Terry is being held as a runaway. Relatives say they're happy she was found and that she doesn't appear to be hurt.
