Plea in Capital Murder case
Strong words in an Orange County courtroom today for a man who pleaded guilty to killing two women. Forty-three-year-old Martin Fox was sentenced Wednesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the deaths of his estranged wife, 40-year-old Candy Fox, and her friend 27-year-old Christina Adams.
These are the faces of Candy Fox and Christina Adams... and this is the face of their murderer. Forty-three-year-old Martin Fox pleaded guilty Wednesday, to shooting and killing the women in June, at Fox's estranged wife's home in Vidor. Authorities say Fox hid in the dark, outside of the home, waiting for his estranged wife.
When she and Adams arrived at the home, with the Fox's 17-year-old son, Martin Fox shot the women in the car. Authorities say he then stomped on his wife's face and head.
After being sentenced to life in prison without parole, the victims' families and friends spoke to Fox with victim impact statements in front of a full courtroom.
Adams' mother called Christina a hero, whose life was, "taken by a coward." The grandmother also told Fox that her 9-year-old grandson wanted him to know that he hates him. mother called Christina a hero whose life was, "taken by a coward."
Adams' father was the most passionate, telling Fox, "I lay down every night thinking of ways to kill you."
Dwayne Anderson, Sr. also said, "You're gonna get what you deserve." To that, Fox responded by mouthing, "I know."
After the hearing, family members spoke about the experience.
Adams' mother, Cindy Rutledge said, "I believe he'll hear them words, I hope he hears them words every night."
And while the case may be closed, both attorneys involved say there's no winner.
Friends of the women, who wore bright pink, in honor of the victims, say the next step is healing.
Fox will begin serving his sentence at the state prison in Huntsville. The final location where he will serve his sentence has not been determined.
