One person was killed and at least three hurt following a collision Wednesday afternoon in Beaumont.

Authorities say 30-year-old Kevin McDonald was killed this afternoon in the accident on Highway 124 near Downs.

Authorities say around 4:30 p.m., McDonald was trying to pass another truck traveling north, when he clipped it while passing on the shoulder.

The impact forced the truck that was struck from behind into the other lane.. where it hit a suburban.

McDonald, who was passing, then hit a Ford F-150.  McDonald died at the scene.

Three other people were taken by ambulance to a hospital.

Beaumont Police blocked Highway 124 from Downs Road to Brooks Road for almost three hours, while clearing the scene.
