Attorneys from a non-profit law firm that doesn't charge any fees are in Southeast Texas to help people still recovering from storm damage.

Lone Star Legal Aid met with people in Port Arthur at Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church to offer free legal advice.

Lawyers say there are thousands of people along the Gulf Coast who are still struggling to recover from damages caused by hurricanes Rita and Humberto and the latest storm Eduoard.

Lone Star legal Aid will help families dealing with legal issues such as government disaster aid grant applications, home repair scams, property rights and tax problems, denials of public benefits such as food stamps, Medicaid or Social Security and other civil legal problems.

Attorneys can also help people who have received grant applications from the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs for housing repairs.
