Woman killed in traffic accident

Orange - From Orange Police Department - At approximately 3:45 a.m., officers with the Orange Police Department were dispatched to the 6900 block of the north service road of IH-10 in reference to a major accident.  Officers arrived to find that a 2003 Honda Odyssey operated by a 50 year old white male from Groves, had taken the Hwy. 62 exit and traveled westbound.  A 1999 Kentworth tractor/trailer was stopped in the outside lane and the Honda struck the corner of the trailer causing extensive damage to the passenger side of the Honda.  The passenger in the Honda, a white female 42 years of age from Groves, received severe injuries to her right arm and leg.  She was transported to St. Christus Elizabeth Hospital of Beaumont, where she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced at 6:27 a.m.  An autopsy was ordered. The driver of the Honda was transported to Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital of Orange and was treated and released.  The truck driver was not injured.  The deceased was identified as Esperanza Torres.  Orange Police Department Detective R. Campbell is investigating the case.
