Services set for young girl killed during parade

December 9, 2008 - 4:55 PM

Relatives of a young girl killed at the end of Saturday's Beaumont Christmas Parade are remembering her outgoing personality.

10-year-old Alliyah Carter was running along side a float at the end of the parade and tripped and fell.  The wheels of the trailer ran over her and she died from her injuries.

Alliyah Carter's cousin, Kristi Wyatt told KFDM, her family loves and misses Alliyah.  Wyatt said while it's going to be hard, the family wants people to remember Alliyah as a happy girl.

Wyatt said the picture of Alliyah with ribbons in her hair was taken the day she died.

Wyatt said Alliyah's parents were at the parade and they saw her smiling and waving from the float.

Wyatt says the family doesn't want anyone to be sad because Alliyah is in heaven and wouldn't want anyone to be sad.

Aaliyah was a 4th grade student at Homer Drive Elementary school in Beaumont.

Visitation for Aaliyah will be Thursday December 11, 2008 from 11am to 7pm at Comeaux Funeral Chapel 624 Irma Ave. at Neches Street.

On Friday morning at 11am there will be a service of praise and worship celebrating the life of Aaliyah at Paradise Missionary Baptist Church located at 4390 Fannett Road.

In lieu of flowers the family is asking for contributions to be made at Capital One Bank or Neches Federal Credit Union.  The accounts are in the name of Aaliyah Carter.
