More Phones Confiscated From Texas Prisons

HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) - Texas prison officials continue to find more illegal cell phones and phone parts in their sweep of the state's 111 prisons.

Texas Department of Criminal Justice officials say that heading into the fourth full day of a systemwide lockdown, officers had seized 40 cell phones, 36 chargers and five SIM cards, phone cards that allow information to be swapped among phones.

The lockdown began Monday evening, ordered by Gov. Rick Perry hours after death row inmate Richard Tabler was caught making a call. The phone had been traced to a series of threatening calls that began earlier this month to state Sen. John Whitmire, a Houston Democrat and chairman of the Senate Criminal Justice Committee.

not if they would ony put the number from the Mark W Stiles unit here in beaumoint and the number of officers getting walked off trying to bring them out so they can bring them back in there are more phones and drugs at STILES than HUNTSVILLE COMBINED

well dimi101 you are right.my sister just quit their and had only worked their about 6 weeks and said the officers were doing so much wrong till she was scared to stay their.she wrote iocs on them and she is going to work at another prison.but im sure most phones were from stiles b/c huntsville runs a tight unit not saying that some of the phones wernt found.i use to be a correctional officer my self.lots of officers bring in their phones and allow inmates to talk on them.i knw alot.but it will never change b/c ppl dnt do their jobs their...
