Comments 0 | Recommend 0NEWS RELEASE FROM BEAUMONT POLICE DEPARTMENT
Thursday night at 11:04 p.m. Beaumont Police responded to a shooting at a home at 2420 Calder.
A Vietnamese couple had just gotten home and was about to enter their back door when a Vietnamese male jumped from the bushes and grabbed the female victim's purse. Her husband fought off the attacker but was shot with a high powered BB gun in the face, hand and leg. The suspect then fled to gray minivan and sped away. The victims gave the vehicle description as well as the suspect's description to officers.
Detectives had earlier distributed information to patrol officers about this suspect van. It is suspected to have been involved in at least three prior Felonies in the past week. Officers located the van at Victoria and Washington. It was occupied by a Vietnamese female driver and a Vietnamese male. The victims identified both the adult male and female as suspects in the Robbery. The female had her three young children (ages 7-9) asleep in the van. They were released by CPS to a relative.
The male and female were booked into the Jefferson County Jail on a charge of Aggravated Robbery. Additional charges could follow in the near future. They are identified as 37 year old Xaun Chau (pronounced as Swan Jow) of Beaumont and 45 year old Van Hein Nguyen (pronounced as Van Hen When) or Port Arthur.
Officers recovered a Daisy Powerline CO2 BB gun that looks like a 9mm pistol from the van.
There have been unconfirmed reports that there may be other victims of Robberies or Burglaries that have not yet stepped forward because of the language barrier. We urge any victims of a crime to contact their local Law Enforcement Agency.
