Beaumont Police Asking the Public to Be on the Lookout for Car Burglars
Beaumont police are searching for burglars who broke into nearly a dozen cars in West Beaumont in only about two hours.
Thursday auto burglars stole several purses including checks, credit cards, and driver's licenses. But officers say it seems the big draw for the burglars was stereo equipment such as expensive radios, amplifiers, and speakers.
Beaumont police Detective Tina Lewallen said, "this problem has been increasing, we have never been hit in a single night as hard as we were hit last night." The burglars used a flat screw driver to pry open the outside handle of eleven cars on Dowlen road between Folsom and the Eastex Freeway. Many in the Kohls and Toys R Us parking lots. Lewallen said "we do believe they are related entry was similar in all the cases and the things taken out of the vehicles were very similar."
Lewallen said police are following up on leads but she said just like most other crimes they need witnesses to help police put the bad guys behind bars. She asking if you're out shopping and see someone suspicious hanging around the parking lot don't hesitate to call police.
