Fatal Auto-Pedestrian Accident

This morning at 11:42 a.m., Beaumont Police and Fire were dispatched to the 1100 block of Goldsboro in reference to an auto/pedestrian wreck.  Initial investigation revealed that a man exiting his driveway and somehow accelerated toward an elderly woman sitting in her driveway under her carport.  The driver struck 2 vehicles before striking the woman.  She was pinned under his vehicle. 

Upon Police/Fire arrival, they had to remove the injured woman from underneath the vehicle.  Due to very limited EMS ability to respond, they placed the woman on a piece of plywood and put her into the firetruck.  She was rushed to a hospital where she died from her injuries.  

The investigation continues and no charges have been filed against the driver at this time.

Police say the incident demonstrates the need for people who didn't evacuate to act prudently and remember other people have remained in the area.
