Port of Beaumont expands into Orange County

The Port of Beaumont has expanded into Orange County.
Elected officials from Orange and Jefferson Counties attended the dedication Monday morning of the port's new, $20 million deepwater wharf on the north bank of the Neches River.
While the dedication was taking place workers unloaded material bound for a nearby steel plant.
The new wharf will provide better access for companies bringing cargo into the area.
It's part of $60 million in capital improvement projects underway or recently completed at the port.
Port revenues and revenue bonds paid for construction of the new wharf.
