Man with bullet in back sues shooting range

ROWLETT, Texas (AP) - A Dallas-area man with a bullet in his back is suing a mile-away shooting range.

Michael Domin of Rowlett lives 1.2 miles from the Garland Public Shooting Range. Domin on Thursday sued for damages, alleging a stray .22 caliber bullet struck him June 12 while he was in his yard.

Domin's lawsuit requests that the outdoor range ban longer-distance ammunition and install more safety barriers.

The Dallas Morning News reported Friday that Domin's 10 days in a hospital led to $200,000 in medical bills.

Rowlett police determined the bullet was on a downward trajectory, but police spokesman John Ellison says "there is no actual evidence that would support the fact that the bullet was fired from the range."

A message to the business Friday by The Associated Press was not immediately returned.
