West Orange - Cove schools will reopen for classes on Wednesday, Sept. 24.
All schools will be prepared to welcome students, with the exception of North Early Learning Center. Students who attend North Early Learning Center will attend Oates Elementary campus.
All campuses will observe an abbreviated school day. Elementary students will attend classes from 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. Middle School and High School students will attend classes from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Breakfast and lunch will be provided for all students. Bottled water will also be available.
Standardized dress will not be required.
Transportation to and from school will also be provided to all students.
First Student Transportation asks parents to know that prekindergarten and elementary students will only be allowed to get off of a school bus at the end of the day if their individual parent/guardian is at the home/shelter to receive them.
Transportation will also be provided to students who are displaced due to the Hurricane and living locally, although these students may be out of the WO-C school district zones. This includes WO-C students currently displaced and living with extended family in the Little Cypress and Vinton areas. Please notify First Student Transportation regarding these special transportation needs at 886-1855.
All West Orange - Cove CISD faculty and staff who have returned to the area are asked to attend a general staff meeting to address the reopening of school on Monday, September 22 at 10 a.m. at the West Orange - Stark High School varsity gymnasium.
Faculty/staff may bring their children to the meeting, if necessary.
Following the meeting, faculty and staff will report to their respective campuses and departments.
Additionally, all faculty and staff will report to their respective campuses and departments for a staff work day on Tuesday, Sept. 23.
The Port Arthur Independent School District plans to resume classes Thursday, September 25 provided power has been restored,the mandatory evacuation has been lifted and city services restored.
The district would like personnel to return on Monday, September 22 if they're able to do so. That includes administrative and child nutrition, transportation, maintenance, custodial and secretaries.
All other personnel are asked to return to work Tuesday, September 23 at 10 a.m., including teachers, counselors, librarians, teacher assistants, social workers and any others.
The PAISD administrative executive team will meet Monday, September 22 at 3 p.m., and the full leadership team of central administrators and principals will meet Tuesday, September 23 at 9 a.m. at Stiwell Technical Center to assess the situation and prepare for the return of students.
There was damage to several buildings but the district is confident the damage won't prevent students from returning to school.
The Beaumont Independent School District has made tentative plans to reopen schools on Monday, September 29.
The Beaumont Independent School District has announced the following dates for students and employees to return to school and/or work:
Monday, Sept. 29 - All students return to school
Tuesday, Sept. 23 - Superintendent's executive cabinet returns to work
Wednesday, Sept. 24 - All directors and principals return to work
Thursday, Sept. 25 - Teachers & all other employees return to work
In addition to announcing that all BISD schools will re-open for students on Monday, Sept. 29, Superintendent Carrol A. Thomas also announced that the district's Board of Trustees will meet at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 25, where an update on the Hurricane Ike damages and recovery will be reported.
"The BISD emergency management team and I have been on the grounds since the day after Hurricane Ike tore through the region. We continue to work diligently and with all due speed to return our district to a safe, fully operating capacity where our employees are focusing on imparting knowledge and skills to students and students are focused on learning," Dr. Thomas said.
BISD's payroll for the September 25 pay day will occur on schedule.
All BISD athletic events are suspended until further notice.
The Nederland Independent School District plans to resume classes next week.
Superintendent Gail Krohn says faculty and staff should return on Wednesday, September 24 and students should return for the start of classes on Thursday, September 25 at their regular hours.
Silsbee ISD staff will report to work on Tuesday, September 23 and Wednesday, September 24 at 9 a.m.
All students will report to school at the regular time on Thursday, September 25.
Faculty and staff in Colmesneil will return to school Monday with classes resuming at their regular time on Tuesday.
Buna and Deweyville ISD's plan to start classes on Monday. Buna will be on their regular schedule. Deweyville will start classes at 9 a.m. Monday with buses running one hour later than usual.
Community Christian School in Orange will also start back on Tuesday.
Lumberton students will head back to class Wednesday.
This is to confirm that Kountze ISD faculty and staff will return to school at 8:30 am Monday, September 22. All students will return and follow a regular schedule on Tuesday, September 23. Thank you for making this information available.
The Hardin-Jefferson ISD expects to receive power to all facilities prior to the end of next week and plans (tentatively) to resume its regular class schedule on Monday, September 29 at the normal starting time. Teachers and staff should remain in close contact with principals or supervisors. They might return a day or two earlier than that depending on power availability. A final determination will be made early next week.
The Orangefield school district resumes classes Monday, September 29. Employees should return September 25. They'll meet at 9 a.m. in the high school gym.
Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD has announced the schedule for resuming classes in all District schools. All staff members should report to their campus or department on Monday, September 22, at 8:00 a.m. Students will begin school at their regular hours on Thursday, September 25, and buses will run according to their normal schedules.
The faculty and staff at Chester ISD are asked to return at 9 a.m. Monday. School begins Tuesday at 9 a.m. Buses run one hour later in the morning.
Lamar University students will return to school Thursday, Septebmer 25. Students can return to Cardinal Village after 3 p.m. September 24.
