Man struck with club after getting off bus, accepting ride

BEAUMONT - A man who got off a Greyhound Bus in Beaumont and accepted a ride was victimized by two people who pointed a gun at him, struck him with a club and took his personal belongings, according to Beaumont Police.

The 37-year-old victim had just arrived in Beaumont between 9-10 p.m. Friday, June 11. He offered to give two men $20 if they'd drive him to Lumberton. The man left in their car and was driven to an area near Glenbrook and Holiday where one of the people in the car pointed a 22 caliber semi-automatic handgun at him and demanded his money.

The second person used a wooden club to strike the man in the back of his head.

They took a bag containing his personal belongings and drove away.

The victim was taken to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth. Police say he didn't appear to be seriously hurt.

The witness provided the following description of the attackers:

#1:  Black man, mid to late 30's, about 5'11", medium build, wearing a white shirt and jeans.  He had a mustache and beard and possibly goes by the name, "Robert".

#2:  Black man, 20 to 30 years old, about 6'0", 170 to 185 pounds, with a mustache and goatee.  He was wearing dark clothing.

Vehicle:  Gray Buick or Oldsmobile, mid 1990 to 2000 year model with chrome rims.
