Governor appoints Robert Choate Newton Co. DA

AUSTIN – From Texas Governor's Office - Gov. Rick Perry has appointed Robert J. Choate of Wiergate as the Newton County Criminal District Attorney for a term to expire at the next general election.

Choate is an attorney in private practice. He is a former section supervisor of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice and past assistant district attorney of Newton County.

Choate is a member of the State Bar of Texas, past member of the Texas District and County Attorney’s Association and past director of the Newton Lions Club. Choate received a bachelor’s degree from Sam Houston State University and a law degree from South Texas College of Law.
