Garage fire leads to discovery of man's body in car
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Grove authorities are investigating a fire and the death of a man found inside his car after his garage caught fire.
The body of Kevin Chaney, 32, was found in his P.T. Cruiser at about 1 a.m. Monday in the 3200 block of Woodlawn, said Groves City Marshal Jeff Wilmore. The Groves Police Department and fire officials are investigating the death and cause of the fire.
Wilmore said Chaney, who was known to sit in his car and listen to music, had gone Sunday to a hospital complaining of chest pain.
Chaney's wife and children were unharmed inside the house. Chaney was the brother-in-law of Stephen Jackson, an NBA player from Port Arthur, reports Channel 6 News Reporter Nicole Murray.
Wilmore said officials are trying to determine if Chaney suffered a medical emergency while sitting in his car and whether the vehicle sparked the garage fire.
Justice of the Peace Tom Gillam has ordered an autopsy.
