Sarah Palin speaks at motivational seminar in Beaumont

Former Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin spoke to a large crowd Thursday morning at a motivational seminar at the Civic Center in downtown Beaumont.

Palin spoke to the crowd at about 8:40 a.m. KFDM anchor Ashley Rodrigue was in the Civic Center to cover the story. Ashley says Palin told the crowd that when faced with a challenge, "Don't retreat-reload."

Dr. Robert Schuller preceded Palin.

Among the featured speakers for the Get Motivated seminar are Palin, Rudy Giuliani, former mayor of New York City, and Hall of Fame quarterback Terry Bradshaw. A spokesman for the seminar told KFDM News other featured speakers, including Zig Ziglar, Dr. Robert Schuller and Tamara Lowe, will also appear in person. Rick Belluzzo, former president and COO of Microsoft, will speak via satellite.

The seminar will last from 8 a.m. until about 5 p.m. Thursday.

According to the company's website, the motivational seminar is designed to sharpen business and personal skills.

Shuttle buses will run from Jaguar Stadium to the Civic Center to help reduce traffic congestion.

Tickets were about $5 a person and $19 for an entire office if purchased prior to Thursday. Tickets at the door Thursday are $225 per person.

Parking spaces will be limited at the Beaumont Civic Center. Parking will also be available at the following locations:

Julie Rogers Theatre, 765 Pearl Street

Postal Encoding Center, 750 Pearl Street

First United Methodist, 701 Calder

First Baptist Church, 900 Calder Street

Ebenezer Baptist Church, 675 College Street

Shuttle service will be provided by Get Motivated from BISD Jaguar Stadium. Shuttle hours available are 6:00 am - 6:00 pm

Persons attending this event are asked not to park in designated mark stalls for "reserved" personnel at any of the above locations. Because of the high volume of vehicles expected, drivers are requested to leave early and anticipate traffic congestion in the downtown area.

If this is a "motivational business" seminar, why is PainInMy@ss, I mean Palin coming? Its like the Mayor of Rose City advising the City of Beaumont on how to manage.

Did she come here to incite more violence by the Terrorist Tea Party Organization? This women is a joke. I really don't see the republican appeal to her.

I'm sure there is NOTHING motivational about what she came to say. More like "get ur guns ready, we're gunna take back Washington from the elitist, communist that are shuvin' healthcare down ur throats!!"

Omg I would have loved to have gone!!!! Come on Sarah,Rudy AND Terry? Geez I had NO CLUE they were coming!!!!Been ill and havent watched he news.Grrrr well as usual the HATE MONGERS on this page,you all kill me...When YOU make the money or make a difference as the individuals speaking then shut your unitelligent butts up...Thats why good talents don't come into this MISERABLE town,because of negative people like YOU!!!! "Reload?" That's rather loose and irresponsible language for a public figure in light of the threats of violence against Democrats who voted for healthcare reform. She should know better. She DOES know better -- has a freaking degree in journalism IIRC.

You know what motivates me? Making sure there are decent candidates in BOTH parties to keep hot-headed idiots like her out of office.

I went to see Sarah Palin because I wanted to hear her speak for myself and not get a tv reporters version. I told my mother before I even read your report that the only thing report would be the "Don't Retreat - Just Reload" which was an advice she received from her father about not giving up. I enjoyed her speech and it was a tremendously pleasure to hear her for myself. Some of the other remarks she did make were: Opportunity meets preparation equals success. Do today what others won't do so tomorrow you can do what others can't! She talked about putting family first, take time to be inspired, and God doesn't drive parked cars - you have to get out and find where God wants to use you.... Don't expect others to cheer you on for what you are suppose to be doing anyway... She enjoys being a runner because it just requires you to put your shoes one and go - in a marathon you only think about the first mile you are in.... Maybe next time your reporter could give a little more depth to your report instead of just going for what the liberal version of Sarah Palin is! Please give us a break!!!

I am in an outrage about the new health care law less Un-American Big Gov catastrophe. This is the beginning of the end of our great country and the screw that will give the government the power to control our very right to live and die. Taxes that will burry working class tax payers to the point they will be driven to the ledge of huge penalty's. When this plan is in place we will be sectioned and divided to Big Gov friendly and un-friendly lists. With the introduction of a new fake virus we will be forced into getting flu shots. If you are one of the unfriendly you mite never make it home. Expect our rights of freedom of speech our right to keep and bear arms, Religion and our Privacy will be gone. We have seen this before with Hitler in WW2. I don't know if you know Muslims are like a drug gang they wont let you pray with them unless you are one of them and its blood in, blood out. Remember the video Obama prayed with them and went to Indonesia without using a US passport. A revolution is in order to get back our Country. Right now we need to refuse to pay taxes in huge numbers and fight fire with fire. Our Military is to strong so we need to fight back like our enemy does, that is the tactics that are being used against us now, lies and red tape.
Sara, there are millions out here that know whats coming and we back you 100% keep up the good fight.

The United States of America
Freedom was promised by our Founding Fathers furthermore guaranteed by the Constitution. The right to freedom is why many of this Country’s best Citizens shed blood to defend it so we could live free in a free society. The World looks to us as a balance of power giving security, peace and stability to all. The cold war came and went then a virus sprang to life called al-Qaida or Gehad its tentacles reach every part of the World bringing terror and death to all it touches. We had to defend our self’s when this evil destroyed the World Trade Center on 9/11 that killed over 3000 people. Now its 20, 10 and we find ourselves brainwashed into believing our cause for defending everything we live for was not a righteous act. A lie is the truth, I do solemnly swear to uphold and defend the Constitution on the United States of America. Then upon the horizon where the Twin Towers used to be Air Force One is photographed as a build board sign to the World that I have come in peace. This peace I bring is a lie but its worthy of the Nobel Peace Prize or not. Now I can freely criticize the truth with diversity and blame those who resist socialism, we will just blame everything to come on the other guy. This new big Government brings wondrous things like Government forced Health Care and a Green Planet. It shouldn’t matter that for peace you now will have to choose what to give up so you can pay for it. We are not at war with our enemy? so confused, we must be at war with ourselves. Would the Great People who made this Country free think like this? You know like Abraham, Lincoln or Martin, Luther, King; I think not! They created a bridge to freedom built from sweat and hard work that stands strong today. No matter what is left after what’s to come, the Eagle will rise from the ashes above the Stars and Stripes and bring our freedom back stronger than before. This is The United States of America and no one shall ever destroy our promise of freedom.
