September 3, 2010 Leger's Restaurant Report Card

This week's restaurant report card comes to us from the Jefferson County Health Department.

Inspector Janet Jones inspects all restaurants in the county except for those cities with their own health departments like Beaumont and Port Arthur.

We've got the highs and lows in this edition of the Restaurant Report Card.

GOLDEN CROISSANT2904 HWY 365/NEDERLAND

We begin with Golden Croissant on Highway 365 in Nederland. Inspector Jones said the handles on all of the refrigerator doors were dirty and needed to be cleaned. There wasn't proper sanitizing in the restaurant and the tables were dirty. The inspector said the floors were dirty throughout. Golden Croissant in Nederland gets an 83.

Now to Eaton Meats in Nederland. Inspector Jones found no dates on the rice dressing in the cooler. Dates are necessary to ensure the food is fresh enough to serve. An employee was not washing his hands properly. The microwave needed to be cleaned and the butcher table was not sanitized properly. Eaton Meats in Nederland gets an 83.

JACK IN THE BOX 706 MAGNOLIA PORT NECHES/GRADE=86

and finally Inspector Jones checked out Jack in the Box on Magnolia in Port Neches. She found ham at an unsafe temperature. The inspector also said dining room tables needed to be cleaned, as well as equipment in the restaurant. Jack in the Box on Magnolia gets an 86.
