Identity theft continues to be a major problem here in Southeast Texas and across the nation.
That's why Saturday afternoon the Better Business Bureau of Southeast Texas hosted it's "Shred it and Forget it" event.
Anyone could drop off documents including credit card statements, old checks, and tax returns at Central Mall in Port Arthur to have them shredded for free inside a mobile shredding truck.
Organizers say their goal is to cut down on identity theft.
Close to 350 people participated and more than 30,000 pounds of documents were shredded.
