Snow Fun in Southeast Texas
Comments 0 | Recommend 0It was a record setting snowfall for parts of Southeast Texas, not only the amount of snow that fell, but how early in the season it occurred.
Many kids in Southeast Texas woke up to a pre-winter wonderland they had never witnessed.
While some Southeast Texans weren't so sure about the new landscape..
"I looked out the window and all this snow! I started running around putting clothes on just trying to get outside," saus Hamzah Abdelwahab.
For others, it was a pre-winter wonderland.
This Beaumont student and his brother woke up before sunrise to see snow piled high on the tree tops. They decided to make their first snowman.
"Bottom part is pretty heavy, weighs like 75 pounds. Took thirty minutes," says Abdelwahab.
"I guess we just try to get a snowball first, then roll it up with some snow," says Kevonte Brazier, who built his first snowman.
But building your very first one takes strategy, and the proper attire.
"I couldn't find nothing else so I just got a pair of socks," says Brazier.
All across Beaumont, people were enjoying what the flurries brought in.
"It was cool," says Gracie Byers.
Just about anywhere you looked Thursday morning, you could find kids with hand-fulls of snow.
"We may make a couple more snowmen, just have a snowball fight. We had one last night," says Richard Byers, who was out with his daughter enjoying the snow.
Whether it was diving in, spinning out or making snow angels, they knew it would have to be done before the sun melted the away the fun.
"Snow angels, snowball fights, snowman and take pictures, probably be out here all day," says Abdelwahab.
Brazier says, "it's really, really fun."
And cold. But a sight rarely seen on the Gulf coast, brought out the kid in everyone.
While the kids had fun playing in the snow, they had to return to school just a few hours later.
