Snow brings out the kid in many in Kountze
The snow piled up not only in Jasper, but in parts of Hardin County, including Kountze.
Adults and children got into the spirit of the season with the record setting snow.
A snow day isn't too common for these kids in Kountze.
"You get to play in it and it doesn't happen very often," says Kylee Martinez.
But that didn't stop them from having fun.
"It's fun and good, but it's cold," says Debbie Sorto.
"Snow is fun, if you like to make snow angles and do snowballs and do snowmans and then the snow fights," says Holly Martinez.
While making snow angels might be easy, it takes a little more skill to make a snow man.
"First you make a little snowball, then start rolling it through the snow until it gets bigger. Then you put three of them together," says Martinez.
Something these kids says they learned last year.
"More snow this year though," says Sorto.
Whether you're enjoying the snow with a snow ball fight, or maybe something else, everyone was enjoying the weather no matter how cold.
And of course, keeping warm was part of the plan.
"I can't feel my hands, we're still playing," says Martinez.
Whether they can feel their hands or not, the cold didn't stop these Southeast Texans from having a good time in the unexpected weather.
"I knew it was going to snow!" says Martinez.
About one inch of snow fell today in Kountze.
