Man dies after driving into ditch

LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) - Authorities say one man died in a single-vehicle accident in the Holmwood area south of Lake Charles.

Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kim Myers said 27-year-old John R. Rentrop of Bell City was traveling south on a parish road near La. Highway 14 at about 7:45 p.m. Monday when he crossed the center line, overcorrected and drove into the ditch.

Myers said Rentrop was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.
