Traffic stop leads to federal prison sentences

BEAUMONT, TX - From U.S. Attorney's Office - U.S. Attorney John M. Bales announced today that an East Texas couple have been sentenced to federal prison for drug trafficking violations in the Eastern District of Texas. 

        BENJAMIN ALLEN CORSEY, 28, of Cleveland, TX, pleaded guilty on Aug. 14, 2009, to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and was sentenced to 87 months in federal prison today by U.S. District Judge Marcia Crone.

MARVA SUE NASH, 36, of Bryan, TX, pleaded guilty on Aug. 21, 2009, to conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and was sentenced to 46 months in federal prison today by U.S. District Judge Marcia Crone.

        According to information presented in court, on Feb. 5, 2009, Corsey and Nash were arrested following a traffic stop in Beaumont.  A search of the vehicle and occupants revealed 49.99 grams of methamphetamine that Nash had hidden in her waistband.  A federal grand jury returned an indictment on Apr. 15, 2009, charging Corsey and Nash with federal drug trafficking violations.

        This case was investigated by the Beaumont Police Department and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Antonetta Stancu.
