National media spotlights SETX pill mills
A Southeast Texas couple took their fight all the way to Austin after their son died from a prescription drug overdose. Now their story is gaining national attention. Jessica Holloway reports, former CBS news anchor Dan Rather is helping raise awareness about illegitimate pain management clinics in Southeast Texas.
Ken and Esther Scarborough of Kountze say they lost their 25 year old son chris to prescription drug abuse. Sunday, former CBS anchor Dan Rather came to interview the couple for an upcoming story.
The couple is helping lead the fight for new laws to control pain management clinics that violate the law. They use the internet to help shed light on what they call a prescription drug abuse epidemic. The couple says they believe their son visited a pain management clinic and pharmacy in beaumont where he was prescribed more than a hundred Xanax, Soma and Lorcet.
