For the third time in as many months, the Jasper County Sheriff's Department conducted a drug bust at a Kirbyville area home and authorities say this was a big one.
Chief Deputy Ralph Nichols said that he and Sheriff Mitchell Newman, along with several other men, went to the residence located south of Kirbyville behind the Lazy H Smokehouse around 10:00 Thursday night. Nichols said five adults and one juvenile were arrested, and a large amount of powder cocaine and ecstacy was discovered, along with marijuana.
Nichols said deputies also discovered a fake Dr Pepper can that had a screw on lid, and the inside was filled with ecstacy pills. Along with the drugs, Nichols said two guns were found, and at last word deputies were still searching in and around the house for more drugs and weapons.
The names of those in custody have not been released pending formal charges and arraignment.
The bust is the latest in a seemingly non-stop series of drug busts and successful theft and burglary investigations that has led to the recovery of thousands of dollars worth of stolen merchandise throughout Jasper County since Sheriff Newman took office on January 1st.
