Comments 0 | Recommend 0

Storms that raced through Southeast Texas on Wednesday night produced hail and strong winds but no reports of serious damage; however, the threat of severe weather will return Thursday and Friday evenings.

KFDM News checked with dispatchers in Jefferson, Orange, Hardin, Tyler, Jasper, Newton, Chambers and Liberty County.  A dispatcher in Liberty County said there were scattered reports of downed tree limbs but nothing else.

A viewer e-mailed us to report that his family was in its FEMA trailer and watched as winds picked up a vacant 29 foot travel trailer on his property and flipped it over Wednesday night in Jefferson County.  The family had been living in the travel trailer until it received the FEMA trailer.

Another viewer e-mailed pictures of damage to a building at her business, Sawmill Town motorcycle campground in Newton County.

KFDM meteorologists report hail fell in some parts of Southeast Texas when storms moved across the area Wednesday night.  The lakes area received more than half an inch of rain and Mid County received about 1/3 inch.

There is a 40% chance of rain Thursday night and the possibility of severe weather.

There is a threat of severe weather Friday night when a cold front is expected to move across the area.  The threat will occur after 6 p.m.

Watch News at Noon, Live at 5, KFDM News at 5:30 p.m. and the late newscast Thursday after NCAA basketball for details.

Remember that you can always show us your weather pictures.  If you have pictures of hail from Wednesday night, send them to our Severe Weather photo gallery. We might show them during our newscast.

The next time there is severe weather in the area, you can check on the storms down to the neighborhood level in our new MyWeather Interactive Radar. This is available at all times on KFDM.com.
