Clearing skies, cooler temperatures,

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

A line of storms has moved out of Southeast Texas, leaving behind cooler temperatures and slowly decreasing clouds. We can expect much colder temperatures Christmas morning and for the next several mornings through Monday.

The storm dumped several inches of rain on parts of East Texas, including Kirbyville in Jasper County and Colmesneil in Tyler County.  Up to an inch of rain fell on other parts of the KFDM viewing area.

There are no reports of wind damage in Southeast Texas, but in East Texas, including Longview, high winds knocked down trees and damaged homes, businesses and vehicles.

FedEx Freight supervisor Barry Rhodes said he and other workers ran for cover after he saw a 20- to 30-foot wide funnel cloud in Longview.

Our forecast calls for skies to slowly clear Christmas Eve, with highs in the low to mid 60's. When kids test their new bicycles Christmas morning, temperatures will be in the lower 30's. Highs Christmas day will be in the upper 40's.

When you wake up Saturday and Sunday, temperatures will be in the lower 30's with highs in the lower 50's.

Monday morning temperatures are predicted to be in the lower 30's with the high near 50. There's a 10% chance of rain Monday with increasing rain chances Tuesday.

Stay with KFDM for the latest on the holiday forecast.
