Fatality Crash in Calcasieu Parish

      (Stark, LA)  On Thursday, April 17, 2008, at 10:15 a.m., Troop D investigated a fatality crash involving two vehicles. The crash was located on LA 12, just west of Starks, LA. The crash occurred when a 2004 Dodge Caravan traveling east on LA 12 crossed the center line and struck 1988 Chevrolet pickup truck traveling west on LA 12 head on.  The driver of the 2004 Dodge Caravan, 73 year old Lynn G. Spears of Deweyville, Texas and the driver of the 1988 Chevrolet pickup truck, 37 year old  Teresa C. Jefferson of Orange, Texas were pronounced deceased at the scene.

        A passenger in the 1988 Chevrolet pickup truck, 40 year old Cassie Wood Brevell of Orange, Texas was transported to Lake Charles Memorial hospital with moderate injuries. A passenger in the 2004 Dodge Caravan, 76 year old Louise Porter of Deweyville, Texas was transported to West Cal-Cam hospital with moderate injuries. All occupants in the crash were wearing a seatbelt.  Impairment is unknown and standard toxicology tests are pending.

        The crash was investigated by Tpr Luke Leger and Sgt. Jim Jacobson. This is the 12th person to die in fatality crash investigated by Troop D this year.
