Written threat prompts police presence at Silsbee High School
Comments 0 | Recommend 0A threatening statement scribbled on a bathroom wall prompted law enforcement officers to use a hand-held metal detector to ensure the safety of students and staff at Silsbee High School, according to information KFDM News obtained from Silsbee Police Chief Dennis Allen.

"A threatening message was scribbled with magic marker on a bathroom wall," Chief Allen told KFDM News. "It was discovered Tuesday. We assisted this morning and every student and staff member had to submit to a hand-held metal detector to determine if any weapons were present. We found no weapons."
Chief Allen says law enforcement officers will remain at Silsbee High School as a precaution.
"It's no joke," said Chief Allen. "We must take any threat seriously."
Anyone accused of making a written or verbal threat could face criminal charges.
If you have information about the threat call the Silsbee Police Department.
"Written comments of a threatening nature were found late Tuesday afternoon at Silsbee High School, prompting the administration to proactively ensure the safety of the students and staff," according to a statement released to KFDM News by Dawn Helton, Public Information Officer with the Silsbee ISD.
"Currently no lockdown has been called. Officers are at the scene to ensure the safety of students and staff."
Silsbee ISD is offering a $2,500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person(s) responsible for the terroristic threat made against Silsbee High School on May 6, 2009.
