Railroad Tracks In PA Tearing Up Tires

The City of Port Arthur will soon have smoother railroad crossings. For years, the city has asked the Kansas City Southern Railroad to repair city crossings in Port Arthur. The railroad has now agreed and will close West Seventh Street near Houston Avenue this weekend to fix that crossing. Mayor Deloris Prince says over the years the pot holes and broken pieces of asphalt have caused damage to cars. Prince says once the project is complete, she hopes it will bring investors into the area.

"We're expecting an office building and a retail shopping center to open up here. Having these tracks repaired is certainly going to help in that process," said Mayor Deloris Prince.

Mayor Prince says the railroad has also agreed to fix the area where the tracks cross West 9th street.
