Defendant sentenced for driving dead man's truck
A judge has sentenced a man who found a body in a truck, and according to prosecutors, dumped the body on the ground and then used the man's truck for several hours.
Perry Donnell Roberson, 40, was sentenced to seven years in prison on a charge of Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
Beaumont Police say Roberson admitted that last June, he saw a truck with its motor running near MLK and McFaddin.
He found the body of David Watson, 52, of Vidor, slumped over the steering wheel. Watson had died from medical problems.
According to prosecutors, Roberson dumped the body near Pine Street and Interstate 10, then drove the truck around town for about ten hours. Police arrested him that night.
