Vidor Police have arrested a man accused of threatening a woman with a gun and running into a wooded area and prompting a manhunt, according to information KFDM News has received from the police chief in Vidor.

Justin Jarrell, 35, of Vidor, was arrested at a relative's home on Vernon Street in Vidor at 10:40 p.m. Wednesday after police received a tip, Vidor Police Chief Eric Foerster tells KFDM News.

Chief Foerster says Jarrell put up a brief struggle and was arrested by members of his Detective Division, Patrol Division and Street Crimes Unit.

Jarrell was taken to the Orange County Jail. Chief Foerster says Jarrell is charged with Evading Arrest or Detention and will face additional charges.

Investigators say Jarrell is accused of pulling a gun on a woman and trying to steal her car Saturday, May 16.

Barbara Hornbuckle of Rose City says she was talking to her daughter on the phone when she saw a man trying to break into her car.

Hornbuckle says when she confronted the man he pulled a gun on her.

She told him to take whatever he wanted and pleaded with him not to shoot her. Hornbuckle says the man told her to go back inside. When he couldn't start her car he ran into the woods near Highway 90 and Westwood.

She called 911.

Law enforcement officers used dogs to search for the man but couldn't find him.

A search of Public Data indicates Jarrell has a lengthy criminal record including charges of Evading Arrest/Detention, Unauthorized Use of Motor Vehicle, Failure to Stop and Render Aid, Burglary, Assault on a Public Servant and other charges.
