Sen Cornyn statement on Senate health care vote

Comments 0 | Recommend 0

WASHINGTON-U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas, a member of the Senate Finance Committee, made the following statement regarding tonight's vote on the Reid Health Care Bill:

"Tonight 60 United States Senators, on a party-line vote, chose to ignore the will of the American people. Driven by their big-government ideology, these Senators have put partisanship ahead of the public interest. Their action tonight puts America one step closer to Harry Reid's $2.5 trillion government takeover of our health care system. They will raise taxes on small business owners and the middle class. They will increase health care premiums. They will gut a half trillion dollars from Medicare. It's sad that none of my Democratic colleagues had the courage to stand on the right side of history and vote against this budget busting legislation."
