Flood Warnings lifted in Southeast Texas
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Flood warnings issued Thursday morning for Jefferson and Orange Counties have been lifted, and first responders say there've been no further high water rescues prompted by heavy rain falling in a short period of time.
More than 3 inches of rain fell in Beaumont between 8 a.m. and noon, with most of the rain reported between 8 and 9:30 a.m.
Most areas of Southeast Texas received between 2 and 4 inches of rain.
A tornado watch issued Thursday morning has been cancelled.
High water was reported at many underpasses along Interstate 10, the MLK Parkway and Highway 69 in Beaumont , as well as along the Eastex Freeway service road near Lucas. A number of streets flooded in the Old Town section and other parts of Beaumont. Earlier Thursday, firefighters warned drivers to stay off 11th Street in Beaumont until the floodwaters receded.
Firefighters rescued several people when their cars became stranded.
Authorities aren't reporting any injuries.
The sun came out at about 12:30 p.m. in Beaumont and the storm system moved out of the area and continued heading east.
