Beaumont Boil Water Notice Has Been Lifted

The City of Beaumont has cancelled the Boil Water Notice issued after Hurricane Ike struck the area.  On September 13, 2008, the City of Beaumont Water Utilities issued a Boil Water notice in inform our customers that due to possible contaminants or possible interruption in service, water from our system must be boiled prior to consumption.

The Water Utilities has conducted flushing and performed daily testing throughout this period. All the water testing conducted within the city showed no contamination in the water supply.

The salt water intrusion has receded and the system is being flushed to clear any residual salt in the system. The "dirty" or brown water experienced by some areas is due to manganese in the system. The level of manganese is not harmful, however it may stain clothes. The problem is being corrected at the Water Treatment Plant but the City is asking citizens to run their water for a minimum of 10 minutes to help clear the lines.

If you have any questions or need further assistance, call Water Department dispatch at 409-860-3221 or the Water Treatment Plant at 409-838-3524.
