Parents of prescription overdose victim taking crusade to Austin
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Two Southeast Texas parents say every day the legislature delays passing laws that regulate pain management clinics more kids die. The couple will travel to Austin to fight for new laws to control pain management clinics that violate the law.
Ken and Esther Scarborough lost their 25 year old son to prescription drug abuse. They believe he visited a pain mangement clinic and pharmacy in Beaumont where he was prescribed more than a hundred Xanax, Soma and Lorcet.
They're testifying in support of two new proposed bills. One is a doctor shopping law that would prevent patients from going doctor to doctor. The other would required licensed pain doctors to own their clinics and be present the majority of the time.
The couple has set up an e-mail address where they encourage story sharing, letters to the senator and anything to shed light on prescription drug abuse: rememberchris@msn.com
