PORT ARTHUR - City buses are once again running in Port Arthur after a bus fire several weeks ago prompted the city to halt service.
On June 11 a city bus driver saw smoke coming from the rear of the bus. He pulled into the Walmart on Twin City Highway.
The three passengers on the bus got out safely and firefighters put out the flames. No one was hurt.
Two days later the city suspended its fixed route transit service while it looked into the problem.
The city was able to bring in buses from the New Orleans Transit Authority and beginning Tuesday morning Port Arthur was able to resume its fixed route transit service.
