PFLUGERVILLE, Texas (AP) - Authorities say a Central Texas warehouse worker has been hospitalized after being stung more than 300 times by Africanized honey bees.
Pflugerville police say two other workers and an officer who responded to 911 calls Wednesday were also stung but have minor injuries. The name of the hospitalized worker, who was stable when transported, and further details on his condition were not immediately available Thursday.
Experts say the colony, which was found in a cabinet, had as many as 125,000 bees.
The incident forced the closure of a nearby road for several hours Wednesday morning as the queen bee and the honeycombs were removed.
Pflugerville is about 15 miles north of Austin.
