JEFFERSON COUNTY - The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office has released the name of a two-year-old girl killed when a family member backing up in a vehicle accidentally struck her.
Investigators say Mikayla Hope Wilcox was killed in the accident at about 1:30 Wednesday afternoon on Sandringham Road, south of Old Sour Lake Road.
Deputies say that according to witnesses, a relative was backing out of a the driveway when Wilcox walked into the path of the vehicle.
She died at Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth.
